More Than We Can Ask For

The apostle Paul wrote in the New Testament to the Ephesian Church a beautiful promise for all those who are seeking to make Jesus known and glorified in our world! Recently, we spent three weeks in a remote region of Kenya in the bush filming “The Hope” film in the heart language of an unreached people group called the Pokot people. We literally watched God at work fulfilling the same promise Paul reminded the Ephesian church about:

“To him who by means of his power working in us is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for, or even think of: to God be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus for all time, for ever and ever! Amen.” Ephesians 3:20-21 (GNB)

We had established two major objectives for this outreach. First, we knew we needed to complete all of “The Hope” filming among the Pokot storytellers at the same time, since it is such a remote place. Second, we had already planted a Hope Production Hub in Uganda to engage around 15 unreached people groups, but we needed to train our Uganda video production team on this same trip. We had the Uganda team drive across the border and join us for the training.

In both objectives, God graciously gave us His good hand of favor, and it was more than a success. We literally knew and witnessed God’s presence in our midst during the filming.

What was unexpected was what Paul writes in these verses… God is able to do so much more than we can ever ask for, or even think of!

The “more than we can ask or think” was fulfilled by two other things we witnessed God doing in our midst. Through the preaching of the Word of God and the Gospel, at least three people committed their lives to Christ and a dozen or more rededicated to the Lord among the Pokot people when our team preached in the small bush churches among them.

In addition to this, God led us into a deeper partnership with our national partner to plant another Hope Production Hub in Kenya to reach at least another 10 or more unreached people groups needing the Gospel through “The Hope” films in Kenya, Sudan, Ethiopia, Somalia, and Tanzania. We are already at work with this new hub plant, and the Gospel will be going forth into literally millions of other unreached peoples in the days ahead.

We are so humbled at the greatness of God and His power working through His people to do “so much more than we can ever ask for, or even think of.”
